Our deepest thanks to the New Jersey Youth Corps of Phillipsburg for their excellent job painting the kitchen at the Day Center. Their hard work not only refreshed it, but left it brighter and cheerier. What a difference!
We continue to be grateful for our strong partnership with the Youth Corps. Over the years, they have helped us not only with painting, but everything from cutting up the damaged playset after Hurricane Sandy and hauling it away, to spreading gravel for the van parking area, to landscaping - just to name a few.
Administered by the Department of Labor & Workforce Development, the New Jersey Youth Corps is a program for young adults between 16 and 25 who have left high school without graduating. The program offers the opportunity to both earn a high school equivalency and gain work skills through meaningful community service, like the various jobs they perform for Family Promise.
Corps members also attend educational classes and receive personal and career counseling while participating in community service projects. In addition to a GED, those who complete the program receive help with college referrals, assistance with job placement, and a personal career portfolio. Their help is a win-win for all of us, and we are thankful to Mike, Katie and everyone at the Youth Corps of Phillipsburg. You can learn more about them at: http://www.njycphillipsburg.com/
Family Promise has proud to have become partners with practically every known entity in Warren County, and we are very appreciative of all the countless hours and services that various groups have provided. These collaborations are invaluable, and have greatly contributed to our success since 2008.
