Welcome St John’s!

Please extend a warm welcome to Pastor Susan Ruggles and everyone at:

St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church

330 Ferry St, Easton PA 18042 • 610.258.6119

Lifting high the cross in historic downtown Easton since 1740.

St. John’s is in the heart of historic Easton. The members of St. John’s have always had a concern for serving the people of the neighborhood. They have been very receptive to our Interfaith Hospitality Network outreach and are excited to join this mission in our own backyards. We are very energized to embark on this collaboration with our neighbors just several blocks away from downtown Phillipsburg, NJ. They will be a host congregation in our IHN program.

St. Johns has a long history of community involvement and helping folks in need, including interfaith ministries, so this is not new to them. In 1908 a daily kindergarten was organized by Sister Edith May Stagg in reaction to the crime in the streets. ProJeCt was formed by the leaders of the Protestant, Jewish, and Catholic congregations. Other ministries have included help to refugees, prisoners, senior citizens, hungry, and yes, the homeless.

St. John’s celebrates 275 years in 2015 of being a church and continues to work with its community neighbors to the glory of God. To learn more about the history of St. John’s, visit their website at http://www.stjohnseaston.org/about/history/ .

A volunteer orientation is scheduled for Sunday, August 10th, at 2 pm at St. John’s, 330 Ferry Street, Easton, PA 18042. New volunteers or those who would like a refresher orientation on the IHN program may attend. RSVPs are requested so please respond to bobf@wcihn.org or zioviv@wcihn.org and we will relay the information to Pastor Susan.

St. John’s has already agreed to take on our open host week of October 19 – 26, 2014.

Thank you!
