Special Thanks to the Builders Club of Belvidere

On June 6th and 7th, the Builders Club participated in the Belvidere town wide yard sale and all of their proceeds were donated to Family Promise. They did a great job and raised over $400.00 for the Family Promise Interfaith Hospitality Network Program.

The Builders Club of Belvidere is comprised of students in grades 5 - 8 at the Belvidere elementary school.

Not only did this enthusiastic club work at the yard sale, but they also cooked and served dinner to Family Promise guests at the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere when that church hosted the families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network program.

Club members enjoyed playing with the children in the program and cannot wait to help out with dinner preparations again. They even want to help with the Belvidere community lunch at the church.

Special thanks to Rheva Smickle of United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere for arranging this and also to Kristi Weber, the Belvidere Elementary School teacher, who oversees this club and helped to make this fundraiser so successful.

The Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students, with more than 45,000 members worldwide. It is structured on the local club level but is supported by Kiwanis International. Members learn to work together and develop leadership skills as they serve their school and community. They certainly did a fantastic job helping our Family Promise program.
