About two dozen Hackettstown teenagers spent their Saturday night sleeping outside in cardboard boxes on May 22.
The teens, members of the "Acts of Random Kindness" Youth Group of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, didn't just raise awareness about homelessness. They also raised $1842.41, all of which was donated to help Family Promise of Warren County.
Many thanks to the teen volunteers, and their leader Lisa Valentino, for their hard work and generous gift! Special thanks as well to Pauline Bender, who was the inspiring guest speaker for the event. Pauline and her family were the first family to be assisted by Family Promise of Warren County, and they have been living in their current home now for almost two years.
From left, Beth Hansen, Karina Daum, Lorenzo Capeles, Bethany Wall, Becca Unger and Philipe Abi Youness, members of A.R.K., the youth group of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Hackettstown, talk outside the “Cardboard City” boxes they set up and slept in on May 22 to raise awareness of homelessness and raise funds for Family Promise of Warren County.
