A Helping Hand from NJ Youth Corps

Family Promise of Warren County is proud to be a partner with the NJ Youth Corps of Phillipsburg.

Katie and Angela, Coordinators at the Youth Corps, recently accompanied the youth to the Day Center for a good sprucing up of the property.

Thanks to the efforts of Fred Maas, the generous donation of 5 yards of mulch from Peace Field Gardens, and the hard work of the Youth Corps, the back yard looks great!

The Department of Labor & Workforce Development administers the New Jersey Youth Corps which is a program that offers young adults between 16 and 25 who have left high school without graduating the opportunity to both earn a high school equivalency and gain work skills through meaningful community service. They have been helping us at Family Promise since we started hosting families in July 2008.

Corps members attend educational classes and receive personal and career counseling while also participating in community service projects. In addition to a GED, those who complete the program receive help with college referrals, assistance with job placement and a personal career portfolio.

The Family Promise staff and the Board of Directors thanks everyone for a job well done!
